Ponds and lakes are wonderful features for any property, but if your pond looks a bit like pea soup or it’s blanketed with a huge amount of green organic matter or perhaps the smell is repelling people, Healthy Ponds can provide you with a pond cleaner that keeps the water fresh, clean and balanced throughout the year.

1. Safe & All-Natural Products
A pond cleaner should be effective, of course, but it also should be natural so that fish, aquatic life, wildlife, pets, livestock and humans can interact with the water safely. Our microbial products are 100% natural, containing a mix of beneficial bacteria that limit the overgrowth of green organic matter and many weeds.
While our microbial products, such as AquaSphere®PRO and Natural Blast®, are natural and safe for all animals, if you have a pond stocked with fish, it is crucial that you test the oxygen levels in your pond prior to use. If the oxygen levels are low, you will need to have a source of aeration in the pond prior to adding our microbial treatments.
In general, we recommend pond owners have a source of aeration as well as keeping tabs on the fish population. Overstocked ponds and lakes lead to lower oxygen levels and possible fish death. If your pond is not stocked with fish, oxygen levels naturally will be higher, so you probably won’t need to test the water prior to treatment.
At any rate, if you (or your pets) enjoy swimming in the pond or if your livestock tends to drink from your pond, our products will not harm these animals. If your pond has healthy oxygen levels, our products will not affect the fish population in your pond.
2. Our Products Are Easy To Use
It’s always our goal to make pond care as simple as possible. For monthly pond maintenance, our AquaSphere®PRO is a perfect choice. This pond cleaner consists of biodegradable spheres filled with beneficial bacteria.
All you have to do is simply toss some spheres into your pond here and there, distributing them uniformly across your pond. Within minutes, they will start releasing bacteria and will work for up to 30 days. At the end of the 30-day period, simply toss in more spheres.
How many spheres do you need? It depends on the size of your pond. We provide a handy pond size calculator on our website. All you need to know is the width, length and depth of your pond and our calculator will estimate the number of gallons in your pond.
We also highly recommend that you keep some Natural Blast® on hand in case of temperature spikes, as AquaSphere®PRO occasionally needs a bit of extra help. These pesky temperature spikes provide the ideal conditions for green organic matter, and tossing in some packs of Natural Blast® can combat these issues, especially when used in conjunction with AquaSphere®PRO.
As with all of our products, please read the directions carefully. Again, in some cases, you will need to test the oxygen levels in your pond prior to treatment. With some products, such as Natural Blast®, you should avoid adding any chemicals or algaecides to your water at the same time. 3. Our Products Are Effective
At Healthy Ponds, we offer products that remediate common pond issues, such as an overgrowth of green organic matter and excess nutrients, and we also offer products that help maintain your pond water and prevent these issues from occurring in the first place.
Our AquaSphere®PRO and other products go to work as soon as they hit the water. If your pond is already clean and healthy, AquaSphere®PRO might be the only product you need. Occasionally, however, temperature spikes can cause green organic matter to accumulate quickly, and you might need to add an additional product.
Many of our customers come to us when their pond is stagnant and pea soup green, desperately trying to find a way to quickly restore the water to a safe and clean state. Our Rush® and Natural Blast® products can handle most green organic matter-related issues and we have special algaecideds and herbicides for issues such as blue-green algae and certain weeds.
While the AquaSphere®PRO, Rush® and Natural Blast® can be shipped throughout the United States, our algaecides, such as Captain®, cannot be shipped to Alaska, California, Connecticut, Maine, New York, New Jersey or Washington. If you live in one of these states, give us a call and we will suggest products that can help you deal with whatever pond water issues you might be facing.
Keep in mind that with all of these treatments, you might actually find that for the first day or two after treatment, your pond looks worse than it did before. This is common, and basically is just a desperate effort by the organic growth in your pond to find nutrients, and they usually head to the surface of the water. However, rest assured, they will die off quickly and float to the bottom, where they will be consumed by the beneficial bacteria in our products.

5. We Aren’t Just About Ponds

For instance, if you have a fishbowl, a small aquarium, a birdbath or a water feature that holds 10 gallons or less, our All-Purpose Water Cleaner is the ideal choice. This product will maintain optimal water quality for up to 15 days and comes in a pack of six, so it’s basically three months of treatment per pack.
If you have a larger aquarium, a fountain, rain barrels, stock tanks or any water feature that ranges from 100 gallons up to 2,500 gallons, we also have a larger version of our All-Purpose Water Cleaner for these larger features. Our AquaLily® Water Cleaner is another option for some of these water features, and this attractive dispenser adds an element of whimsy to your koi pond or small water feature. One AquaLily® can treat up to 1,000 gallons, so if you have a larger water feature, you might opt for multiple AquaLily® dispensers.
For these products, a non-biodegradable dispenser is used, but the bacteria that are released are the same type we use for our AquaSphere®PRO product. These bacteria are safe for all aquatic life, wildlife, pets and humans.
