Algae & Weed Problems
For treating weeds and various forms of algae we recommend a variety of chemical products.
- When you use the selected algaecides with our all-natural products, together they improve water quality and can be used for algae control
- Natural products from Healthy Ponds are all-natural and are used for maintaining water clarity
- Healthy Ponds natural products are NOT Algaecides/Pesticides
- All algaecide treatments should be followed up 30 days later with our all-natural pond treatment products

My pond has an extreme planktonic algae problem.
Planktonic algae can overtake a pond and quickly progress into an “algae bloom”. When the algae has progressed this far, it can be harmful to animals and humans. This problem is best treated with our algaecide Captain and followed up with our non-algaecide all-natural products, by using our 3 step all-natural treatment plan.

My pond has an extreme filamentous algae problem.
Similar to planktonic algae problems, extreme filamentous algae is best treated with our algaecide Captain and followed up with our non-algaecide all-natural products, by using our 3 step all-natural treatment plan.

My pond has Muskgrass/Chara.
Muskgrass/Chara can be removed by trying to rake it out, but that is often ineffective and difficult to control because it reestablishes from spores and fragments. This problem is best treated with our algaecide Captain and followed up with our non-algaecide, 3 step all-natural treatment plan.

I have aquatic vegetation or weeds taking over my pond.
Various weeds can take over a pond. Not sure what type of weed that is in your pond? Take a look at our Weed Definitions page to learn more.
